Some Family News and a Call for Prayer

Some sad news was received when our brother Richard let us know he had developed Stage 3 lung cancer a number of weeks ago. He was having trouble breathing and went to the hospital and they discovered a 4cm mass in the middle of his chest. He is currently undergoing radiation therapy and chemotherapy on a daily and weekly basis.

Richard is a fighter. He has beaten and overcome everything he’s ever been hit with and we fully expect him to overcome this as does Richard himself. He had one day he called “Disappearance Day” … a day he spent fully expecting this thing to disappear. This is his great attitude at work and he is up to the challenge and taking this on …. but he is up against it.

This is where the rest of us come in as we ask for prayers for our brother because we believe that prayer, especially prayer for a cause by many, is a real powerful thing and between all of our prayers and Richard’s own amazing attitude as he takes this on we feel Richard will win this one and come out on top.   14. Richard, just got through radiation myself in May. Squamous cell carcinoma with a septal presentation is what I have. (Fancy name for we gotta take your nose off and cover it with a flap of skin from your arm.) Not fun, but you can do it. This whole cancer business is not fun, actually. Surround yourself with friends and family, that helps get you through. As well as all the faith you can muster in a higher power. I’ll be praying for you to stay strong.

  17. My brother Bob is fighting the same fight. I can truly empathize with your battle,keep talking, don’t be the strong guy all the time, let people hug you it helps them as well as you. It is in a battle like this that you discover a love and strength within yourself and all those who love you beyond what you could ever imagine.   50. A prayer for Richard, Oh Holy Mary, Mother of Jesus, I ask that my prayer for Richard be one of hope that Richard will overcome his current health condition. I pray that the Lord Jesus, please be there for Richard and give him the strength that he will need
    to endure the cancer treatment. It is never an easy task to win the battle from cancer.
    I pray that Richard is able to be strong in mind and that he knows that he has a STRONG FAMILY that loves him and is with him every step of this very difficult health scare. Almighty God, protect the Cowsill family. Protect them, give them strength, as they are going to need it. I love this family with all of my heart. Oh Jesus, I can’t help but be concerned for them.
