Remembering Davy Jones

Our condolences and prayers go out to the family of Davy Jones who passed away today, February 29th 2012. Susan said in an interview last year, “I was a big Monkees fan when I was a little girl. I don’t know that they musically influenced me but I was in love with Davy Jones.” and Davy showed up for part of a band night back in the summer of 2009 with the Bob Cowsill Band. We’ll miss you Davy – say hello to Billy and Barry for us.

    • We shared alot of the same tatses in music I see I actually just looked at those lyrics. The reference to creature comfort goals I gotta get out of here And the Cowsills too! As much as I liked/not loved Pleasant Valley Sunday, and heard it so many times, I never heard the unlying messege. Fast forward, to today’s lyrics. Some of that content would leave you speechless. I filter lyrics as part of my job to make sure the content is both clean and positive. And I have to say, sadly, the selections are becoming slim! And yet, the kids listen to it on the radio so they hear it anyway. Even if I won’t allow it in my vans or studio. I think now of the young man who shot five I beleive this week in a HS cafeteria. What drove him? Today’s youth walk around with ear buds and Ipod 24/7 and when not plugged in they’re emersed in social media sites.I am afraid we are going to experience more situations this. Not fully blaming the lyrics, but I beleive in my heart they play a significant part.

  5. Thank you so much. I have loved and grown up with the Cowsills and the Monkees. Your brothers and Davy Jones are all very missed. There is a rock n roll heaven. Blessings from Ventura, California

  6. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome tribute to this wonderful, sweet man who made his way into the hearts of many of us as we grew up. He will be forever in our hearts! I love you, Davy Jones!

  7. Thanks for posting this wonderful video. It was good to see Bob and the audience giving him his due honor. What memories. So sad- I know what you mean Caren- Davy was such a significant part of my childhood memories. He seemed like a genuine good guy in add’n to all his talent. I hope he was mostly happy & knew how much people valued and appreciated him.

  8. This is so sad and very sudden! For those of us in a certain age group, it’s almost like losing on of The Beatles, isn’t it? He was too young to leave us and my heart goes out to his wife, four daughters, Micky, Peter, Michael, all his friends and fans. Rest peacefully, and enjoy that great band in heaven Davy.
