Omg! Tonight's Episode of the Cowsill podcast:
"Circle in the Round."

Bob, Paul, and Susan attempt to explain the concept of the stage turning. It's hilarious.

Am so jealous. I wish the Phoenix stop was coming to the Celebrity Theatre, a Circle in Round venue.

Bob takes us backstage to meet others from the Happy Together Tour: Musicians, Troy from The Vogues.

If you don't have tickets to this year's HTT get one!

Hall of Famer, Little Anthony, has only to play three notes and the audience jumps out of their seats.
The band sounded so tight, great harmonies and musicianship.

Anyway am so excited about the Phoenix July 18th show at Salt River. Podcast fans bring Signs. Lol

(As so many people say) - I love you guys! I just watched your first podcast on the road, and I can't wait to see you and everyone else (especially Little Anthony and the guy on every Barry Manilow album I have, probably, Ron Dante) near the end of the tour, in Ohio. Thanks for introducing us to driver Jay and stage set-up/audio person, Dorian (spelling off?). My main comment this entry: it might be easier for you guys to do just monthly podcasts, rather than weekly. You all have very busy lives, and weekly is just too much (and bi-weekly is too confusing). That's my vote, to make it easier for you guys, and - as they say in showbiz: "Leave 'em wantin' more!" But, don't start that schedule until after the HTT, because now you're captives in the bus (and that was really cool, to see your summer home - thanks!).

Guys watch the Cowsills Podcast on You Tube today or listen to it.

Hilarious from the tour includes "the bus" view.

Love ya Bob, Paul, Susan
See ya soon!

I have listened to Some Good Years a hundred times or more. I only love it more. I'm from Calgary. I didn't know your brother Billy but I know one of his guitarists and drummers. You don't know what you have till it's gone. Bob, thanks for writing Some Good Years. Too bad you aren't playing someplace closer. I listened to you folks when I was a kid. The magic of Indian Lake came through our old tube radio.
God bless you!

Stoked to just find you folks still playing and recording. The new stuff is great. Harmonies and melodies intact. One of my regrets is that I did not see Bill in the Blue Shadows while living in western Canada. Big respect to you all.

Thanks for coming to Hutchinson, Kansas to play. It was well worth the trip from Southeast Colorado. You guys are a positive inspiration. I have said for a few year if I knew you guys were close I was going to see you. Now to catch you with the full band. Something to look forward to. Thanks you so much for what you do!!!

My wife and I were disappointed that you couldn't appear in New Buffalo last August, and now we're disappointed again that you will again be absent in New Buffalo this August. We wish that the Happy Together promoters would mention that in their promo, rather than hoping nobody will notice, as seeing the Cowsills was the main reason for buying the tickets. (Sorry, don't need to hear Gary Puckett singing Young Girl again, creepy in the '60s and worse so now!) Maybe someday we'll be able to catch your act if it's not canceled. Sad not only for Cowsills fans in New Buffalo, but sad that with Susan's absence there will be no females on-stage. All the best, we'll miss you on August 29th...Chris and Sue

I just recently introduced my sixteen year old granddaughter to "Christmastime", and she relayed to me that she now listens to it all the time. It's such a magical, lovely song that conjures up such sentimentality and sweet memories. I'm so glad I was able to start her on a journey with the Cowsills. 😊

I have recently reconnected with all things Cowsill. Have enjoyed not only the look back, but current podcasts that include John, as well. Youtube is a great source. Continued blessings to all of you; Memory Eternal to both Bill and Barry. I lost my husband October 2023, and have finally asked myself "what used to bring me joy before I became too busy with life" over the years...and here I am;

Seven kids? That's insane!

Oh, wait. I have six siblings. That's seven kids total. And my father apparently went to the same parenting school that Bud attended. Their methods sound strikingly familiar.

Age wise I'm two years older than Susan. If we were neighbors back in the day, we would all have been schoolmates.

My take on The Cowsills then and now;

Then:

We grew up listening to the hits of the day. We were definitely fans of The Beatles and Monkees. I think we had The Cowsills first album in the house. Looking at the cover now with the mom in the window, it looks so familiar to me. Also, I may be wrong as to the band, but we once got a cereal box with a cut out 45 that was on the back that you could actually play on a turntable. My memory tells me it was The Cowsills.

Because of the way they were marketed it soon became uncool to be a Cowsill fan. To me they ended up in the lame pile of the musical acts of the era.

Now:

And then the documentary about them airs on Amazon Prime. I watch it curious about what happened to them. What struck me most was the similarities between their family and ours.

Shortly after The Beatles hit it big, me and one of my brothers decided to follow in their footsteps and learn to play instruments. He was learning to play the guitar and I was learning bass. He stuck to it becoming quite good. My skills never developed so I quit playing. I pursued my love of drawing instead.

Watching the documentary I saw that Bud Cowsill and my father were cut from the same mold.

As far as our genders go we were more evenly split. We were four boys and three girls.

While we grew up in New Jersey, my wife and I would end up moving to Rhode Island where we still live today. Just another little similarity to The Cowsills that I now have.

At this late time in my life I’ve taken an interest in learning how to play the drums. And in doing so, I’ve developed an interest in listening to drummers. And then one day I’m checking out live Cowsill videos on the internet. Going from one video to another it struck me how polished this band of kids were. And then I found a medley where they play Reach Out. During this performance John Cowsill (age 11) was playing drums every bit as good, if not better than his adult peers. That’s when I discovered this band was not what I thought they were. These were insanely talented kids.

My estimation of what happened:

These kids were short changed. Adults took over and made the end game their own agenda. They put them on display in a zoo cage. They placed a sign on it that read: “Family Band” and took the spotlight off of where it should have been shining the brightest. On their skills as musicians and as song writers. Putting that on the back burner put them on the fast track to oblivion. At least for a time.

These kids deserved better. They paid their dues in learning their craft. That’s what should have been highlighted. That might have given them more longevity in the early years.

I just wanted to share my thoughts here. A little bit of growing up and hind sight I now see The Cowsills for what they truly were and are presently; Incredibly talented kids that grew up to be incredibly talented adults. Hope all the best for you all.

I just watched your 3011 documentary. It brought back terrible memories of my physically and mentally abusive father. I grew up in fear. I’ll soon be 70. The passing decades have not diminished my hate for him. I can’t forget or forgive. I pray he burns in hell. I hope that you all have dealt better than me. I do feel closer to you as we have all experienced such wickedness. I love your music.the songs comfort me. God bless you all!

Hey guys! I love listening to your podcasts. You are so full of energy and your love for each other is a wonderful thing to behold. Listen you mentioned that you sometimes perform "If I Had a Hammer" made popular to Peter, Paul and Mary. There was some speculation about whether any of the 3 is still alive. Turns out Noel Paul Stookey is still going strong at (I believe) age 84. He has put out several albums in the past few years and he records in his home studio ("the henhouse") in Maine. Like you guys he has aged gracefully and is quite an interesting guy. Wouldn't it be great if you could get him on your podcast and maybe even accompany him on "If I Had a Hammer?" Not sure if you could make it happen but I bet your fans would love it. Keep up the good work, from a longtime fan.
