  1. It’s been a year since this performance. Caren was definitely in her element being able to jot down the night’s repertoire. Are there any shows coming up? I would love to catch it if there’s any…

    Cheers!

  2. I always knew you were stars…I attended MHS with you all and was there for the hootenanny!

  3. Thanks for the clarification Ilene. I was too busy watching Nelson go to write it down! LOL! It’s a shame we don’t have YouTube vids of some of the performances.

  4. Such awesome music! Thanks for posting the set list, Caren-honey! And, you too, Vicky. 🙂

  5. Nelson jumped on the drums for Eight Days a Week, while John sang to the window with his back to us, and You Can’t Do That in which John sang lead…A master drummer for sure…Nelson was fantastic.

  6. Heck of a fun night! With everybody aware that John would be yet again heading out on tour with the Beach Boys, Bob, John, Robby, and Timmy cut loose. At one point Bob had to admit that the ‘boys’ were going to play whatever they wanted to and he had ‘no control’. LOLOL!
So, we heard MOST of 45 wonderful tunes though some were abandoned part way through out of necessity, lost lyrics, etc. There were some…ummm…”unique” versions and definite moments of greatness!

    (1) Norwegian Wood – performed out of a need to start the music, despite the suddenly AWOL drummer who slipped away with his wee, lovely wife.
    (2) Surfer Girl FAIL – an sorry attempt to lure the drummer back by performing badly done Beach Boys. Nope. Didn’t work. So it then morphed into You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away
    (3) Mr. Tambourine Man (A-HA! We have a drummer again!)
    (4) Go To Pieces
    (5) Tired of Waiting For You
    (6) I’ll Be Back
    (7) Heart and Soul / Heart Full of Soul (John misheard his brother for just a wee moment?)
    (8) Sunshine Superman
    (9) You’re Going to Lose That Girl
    (10) The Rain, The Park and Other Things
    (11) If I Needed Someone
    (12) Bohemian Rhapsody – YES! They probably made it about 1/3 of the way through before Bob regained control but gee it was FUN while it lasted! *VBG*
    (13) Rock and Roll…It appears to me that Cowsii has been wanting to do that opening drum bit so he took the bull by the horns and went for it. Of course Bob shut it down before they got too carried away but then made the fatal mistake of mentioning Whole Lotta Love which left him again attempting to regain some dignity & control. LOL! Neither songs was played through to the end but, hey, we got some ZEP on band night!
    (14) Red Roses For A Blue Lady – I never figured out whether John was channeling the Ghost of Concerts WAY Past or singing something that wife Vicki enjoyed. No matter, it was lovely…sigh…
    (15) Pretty Woman
    (16) Black Is Black – John again.
    (17) What About Love? – yep, Cowsii on lead from the “Global” album.
    (18) Mr. Soul
    (19) Pleasant Valley Sunday (Rockin’ Timmy)
    (20) Day Tripper
    (21) No Matter What (Timmy B)
    (22) Everybody
    (23) Tell Me Why
    (24) Honky Tonk Woman
    (25) HAIR
    (26) White Rabbit (Timmy Slick)
    (27) Brown Sugar
    (28) Some Kind of Wonderful (Bass Man Robby)
    (29) Cinnamon Girl
    (30) Eight Days A Week
    (31) You Can’t Do That (Johnny Patrick)
    (32) Eight Miles High
    (33) Green River
    (34) Little Honda
    (35) And Your Bird Can Sing
    (36) Kicks
    (37) I’ll Feel A Whole Lot Better
    (38) It Won’t Be Long
    (39) Paperback Writer
    (40) Indian Lake
    (41) Dancing In The Street (Cowsii just launched into it..bah-pa-ba-da-da-dah)
    (42) Travelin Band
    (43) Long Tall Sally
    (44) I Want You / Carry That Weight / The End…and maybe I missed a song in there somewhere. Robby?
    (45) Help

Nelson Bragg, drummer of the Brian Wilson Band and friend to John Cowsill, was in attendance and offered up his maracas & tambourine talents as he did in February. He took over the kit for one song but I was so fascinated by his style that I failed to make a note of which song it was. His style is different then John’s and it’s hard to describe the differences. Cowz also had an audience member take over for one Beatles tune and that gent looked like his arms were rubber, kind of loose flowing, but it was right on for the song. Everyone has their ‘style’.
(Hark! Do I hear Gallagher and the Sledge-O-Matic?)
    Good night Music Lovers!
