I was blown-away by your story on ET. I had no idea the hardship the family endured. You even can play musical instruments. Back in your hey-day so many groups who couldn't play a lick used all studio musicians (sounds like today). The scene on ET where you guys we preforming The Rain, The Park ..... had me crying. I love that song. Always have from the first time I heard it. I'm a musician/music collector and have a mint copy of your 1st lp. Most of the people I hang with is in the mid 40's to 50's age bracket and are mainly musicians, artists or people who just like good music. So I DJ on the side and at a party that consisted of old Punkers, Metal Heads, Rockabillies, music hip people I was playing stuff like Gene Vincent, T-Rex, Ramones and I put on The Rain, The Park.. and the place went up for grabs. Totally boinkers. There's nothing like seeing a bunch of middle-aged guys singing the chorus part "I love the flower girl" After I played they wanted to hear it again. It got played a few more times that night. I started record collecting years ago and even as a teen I's pick-up the usual Beatles.Stones,Doors etc but I also would also pick-up the latest Cowsills lp. This blew other kids away. I was asked why and the reply was I just like'em. You guys got alot of fans out there. Just call us Cow-Heads I guess. Thanks for making life better. Willie B

I saw the special that Entertainment Tonight ran on you (12/11/04). Even though I was so young at your peak, I do have a Greatest Hits vinyl in my music collection. Once in a while, I do play it (Yes! Once in a while, I do spin my turn table!) . Now I'll probably see if your best is available on CD.

Just saw a newsclip about the family doing a show to raise money for one of their sibling who was having health problems. Why don't the Cowsills do a nostalgia tour. I would bet you would do well; I know I would go hear the band as like many little preteen girls, I just loooooovvvvved the Cowsills. Now I am a middleaged Mom and it is a wonderful memory of my past. I bet lots of others feel the same. Think about it and I'll be looking forward to buying a ticket when I hear your tour announced.

I was very pleased to find this website! Talk about memories and age hahaha...condolensces to you with regard to your parents. I saw you in concert ..I can't even remember the year ( I am 43 ) at the Ohio State Fair. I always wondered also if the song Indian Lake had anything to do with Ohio. Many happy memories of your music. Disappointed though that every time someone does a piece on The Partridge Family television show you are not mentioned and the influence you had. What's up with that anyway?! Much happiness and success to you all! Greetings From Montana!

Hello Cowsills; I never heard of you, but at some point I read that the Partridge Family was based on you. So, I guess you're the real Partridge Family! I think that's really cool, and I think it's great that you worked up the initiative to make music and follow your dream. I've never heard your music but I'd like to do so at some point. I grew up (partially) in the 60s and for me there will always be a fondness for that era. Anyway, good luck! Maybe your kids will start their own music band one day. I wish I were back in the 60s right now...I'm feeling nostalgic...

I now have all of your albums, and Global too, which they are all terrific. Your music makes me happy, which is what it's all about, right? I'd love to hear a new live album from your talented bunch!! Just reading the songs that you did in the Memorial Concert, made me want a full 2Cd set of the roster!! Good health, and God Bless to all of you, and your loved ones. Forrest

I know this may sound impossible, silly and even far-fetched... but I was wondering if you would consider performing (simply as possible) in beautiful Wrightstown, PA (near Newtown), in beautiful Bucks County, Pennsylvania for our wedding in June. I'd be 44, my fiance 49, and it would make us so HAPPY (happy, happy). When I asked Carol to marry me, I only asked one thing after her answer, if she said YES. To have flowers in her hair. :o) And she said YES. So, that's about it. Thank you for warming our hearts through your many songs of love and joy, and if you decline, we will have you there in spirit on CD... but clearly not the same. Take GOOD Care. Saw you perform at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas in 1970. You, that is the Cowsills, were waiting to come up to the main floor of the auditorium, standing on a stairwell from below, from a dressing room I'm guessing. I stood there two or three feet away, gawking, softdrink in my hand. Inside I felt giddy like a school girl at a Beatles concert. I was so delighted to be hearing The Cowsills in concert. But hey, I was a college student so I had to act cool. I wanted to ask for an autograph but that wouldn't seem cool either, so I just said "Hi", several of you said "Hi". There was an ackward silence for a few seconds, so then I slunk back to my seat and a few minutes later you all went on up upon the open stage to begin your performance. I'm curious whether any of you remember that? Wouldn't blame you if you didn't. One of a kajillion stops on one your many tours. Once on stage, one of you told the crowd that you were suprised at all the road signs in Kansas indicating all the colleges here there and elsewhere in Kansas. In 1967, I believe, when I was a freshman at another college in Kansas, Ottawa University, I heard on the radio for the first time "The Rain, The Park...". You folks had a unique sound, wonderful harmony, utilizing minor keys often in the vocal harmonies, is that correct? Anyway, that day alone in my little dormatory room, hearing that song for the first time reached inside of me. You know how some songs just grab you; strike a harmonious chord somehow within the listener. I was surprised and delighted to see you perform the other night at the Red Socks game. Very Best Wishes to you all, Howard L. Walker

Hi gang, So happy to see you guys still creating new music. wish i could have been at those reunion gigs. if they ever come up again, please let me know. I play all of your old and new material on my community radio show, and especially dig the new Susan Cowsill demo cd she gave me after her stunning performance in Austin,Texas during the South By Southwest Music Festival. Want to turn all Cowsill fans on to one of my favorite musical websites- Spectropop. It's a website dedicated to the legendary Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame producer - Phil Spector. However, it also documents other producers and artists that had the Spector-like sound to their recordings. There are numerous mentions of some of The Cowsill's recordings that are brought up by the many fans of this website. Anyway, keep in touch, and I just want to thank Barry Cowsill for his lengthy chat with me in the French Quarter where he regaled with with wonderful stories about the Cowsills great history. I happend to be up late last night and caught you on ACESS HOLLYWOOD. I was sorry to hear about Billy being sick. It isn't fun growing older. As my mother says: "It is censored growing old." The bones crack and you have aches in places you never knew were there until now. I grew up with you guys and have thought about you through the years. When my family and I drove through Rhode Island I thought about all of you. I think you are about the only group that I liked that I never saw in concert. Of course the groups I saw make me cool in my son's eyes and my daughter, who knows with her. My dad was a Navy Medic, but a little power makes a person dangerous. I was the only child and life wasn't easy at times even after I grew up. He'd bounce a quarter off my bed and until the day he died from lung cancer he complained about my inability to do hospital corners on the bed. Did it really matter in the course of human events? And now if a parent finds week in their kids room they aren't happy and don't throw them out of the house, I flushed it and told them no more. I would think after they watched father die tryingt to catch his breath they wouldn't go in that direction. We've all changed and had to grow up, that sucks too!! And now my two are off in college or will be soon. I hope the oldest eventually gets the concept of dorm room to your own apartment soon. I can hope. Seriously thanks for your wonderful music and if you ever get on the East Coast around Myrtle Beach, SC please let me know. I have worked in promotions, know the various telelvision stations (places to get free publicity and other things) newspapers and so forth. I'd be happy to help. Best of luck and God Bless you all. Hi; I happened to be watching ET a few days ago and I saw you guys come on talking about your brother Billy and about your lives. At first I was thinking "who are these people?", you know, because I've never been into music much. Well, when you started talking I was glued to the set. Seeing you was like watching a home movie, or hanging out at a bar and talking with some old friends. That's just something you don't see on TV, so it got my attention. So, I started looking up your songs on the web, and over and over it was like "Oh! I didn't know they did that song!!!". It turns out I knew your work, I'm 47, how could I not know it? The quality and wide range of you work attests to your ability, you all seem to breath music and it drips from you fingers. But that's not what sets you apart. Your songs are like prayers, or screams, or rallying cries, or the sounds of the wind in a lonely field. You guys play the sounds of the human soul, and that attests to your spirit of heart. And that is what sets you apart. Billy is lucky to have you all around him now in his time of trouble. I will do what I can to help, but given that I've been too sick to work for over a year now, I can't do much. God bless you all. Tony

You all look wonderful and sound better than ever!!! It's hard to believe that 34 years ago, my sisters and I would go up to your house on La Mesa, play on your trampoline,(Susan, censored, you were good at that)and the time we went horseback riding with Barry and John. Like Barry said to me at the concert, "all those horses wanted to do is to run back to the barn"! Wonderful memories... I brought my brother-in-law with me and he also had a great time and always has been a fan, like myself. I sincerely hope Bill gets better soon. Love ya all, Cindy Burt

The music is timeless; most of the Cowsill's music I've heard was recorded before I was born -- however, it strikes a chord everytime I hear it. Exquisite vocal harmonies -- one of my favorites. Your site is really done well. Saw Barry perform in Newport, RI several times last summer and he was kind enough to allow an aspiring musician the opportunity ( and experience) of playing live. Thank you, Barry. Keep the music going and have fun.

I saw the Cowsills in concert in 1968 at "HemisFair" in San Antonio; my mother's employer was one of events sponsors so she got us tickets and she personally met Barbara and got her autograph for me and my sister, at the time we were 8 and 10 years old and were thrilled. My mom always remarked on how gracious & kind Barbara was. I have their original albums, also tapes and CDs! God bless the Cowsills and hope John is doing allright.

Loved your music. It could be listened to by anyone. Not like much of the stuff today put out by vulgar, no-talent want-to-bes. A Cowsill song on the radio puts a smile on my face, makes me sing along, and reminds me better, more innocent times. Please come to South Florida and perform. Would love to see ya. Thanks again for your music!

Hi John, I am at work listening to Pet Sounds and somehow got sidetracked and wound up on this site via the Beach Boys etc. I think you will remember my twin sister Sarah and I. We are friends with Dean Torrence and we used to hang out with the Jan and Dean gang years ago! Anyway I just thought I'd say hi! I own a 1950's/60's Kitschy Vintage Boutique in San Francisco called Lollipop Collectibles and Gifts and would love to have you stop by if you are ever in the City! I noticed you'll be in the area with the Beach Boys soon. Drop me a line and maybe we can see each other while you are here! I'd love to see Chris, Phil and Randall too-say hi to them for me! Bob- Just wanted to THANK YOU for a great set at the Pickwick on Friday. You were really in rare form!! Great crowd too! I was so thrilled to hear you do THE RAIN, THE PARK, AND OTHER THINGS. Never heard you do that live before....pure MAGIC!!! And thanks for doing a few other Cowsills songs. Really appreciated it. Oh, just a suggestion...the next time you do The Byrds and Dylan version of MR. TAMBORINE MAN, you may want to end it with the William Shatner version!! That would complete the trilogy. Anyway, you were terrific!! Looking forward to seeing you soon! -Rick Farmiloe

I was born just 6 months after Susan. Thus my earliest memory of a favorite song was when I was around 9: "We Can Fly". My second favorite Cowsills tune was "On My Side" when I was age 11. Have always lived in southern New England (Mass., Cape Cod, or southern CT) but have never heard of the band performing locally. :( My renewed interest in Cowsillmania was sparked by having recently acquired a promo video of "The Rain....Things". Have a nice day :)

I grew up listening to your songs from my cousins down the road from us especially the song Hair. Evertime we played it or heard it on the radio we would sing our part and sing out loud we did and now everytime we get together and hear it or play the song we would sing and have our kids join in as well. It has taken nearly thirty years to actually put the faces to the voices behind those great songs and when I saw for the very first time pictures and photos of you guys on the web you guys were spunky back then like you are now. We still play your songs Thank You.

I located a copy of your song "I Love the Flower Girl" and it sounds exactly like "The Rain, The Park and Other Things". Which is the correct one? Also, now that humankind is supposedly a little more culturally sensitive, do you ever get any flak for the Indian war whoops on "Indian Lake"? Do you omit that part when you perform it live today?

Hey Everyone! Saw Bob at Fox and Hounds this past Saturday. What a great time!!! I'm a big Cowsills fan and have wanted to see Bob perform live for quite a while. I met and talked to him a couple of weeks ago and he couldn't have been nicer!! He even honored my request to plya WE CAN FLY. He said he couldn't believe I even knew what that song was!! Had him sign my cd booklet of one of my Cowsills albums. He sounds great solo, but with a full band, it was amazing!!! I talked to him briefly again and asked for another Cowsills song...which he kindly played. "This one's for Rick." I'm currently involved with doing some animation for a documentary on Brian Wilson. We are hoping that perhaps Brian can play at the benefit for Bill in September. Anyway, lots of really great people at these shows. Good vibrations all around. Count me as a 'regular' from now on!

I was driving today listening to Dick Clarks "Rock, roll & remember" & they had on a Cowsills song & I thought that I would come home & type in the name & see what comes up. Well here I am. I was a huge fan of the Cowsills back in the day and I still turn the radio up when one of their songs comes on. I remember watching the tv specials when they were at the height of their popularity. Whoever is reading this could pass on my thanks to the family that when I hear their music that it takes me back to a special time in my life. Thanks Jim H.

hi! i am happy to read that you actually do read your guestbook!(i'm sure many celebrities never do). anyway, i used to live in lafayette, la. and was familiar with bassist rob savoy, now with susan cowsill. he was really wonderful even way back then...i remember listening to "the rockin shapes" and i was hooked! anyway, i would like to say hello to him and the next time i'm in new orleans, i'll definately check out the susan cowsill band! i did and still do love you, the COWSILLS, ......from "i love the flower girl" to "hair," etc. i think, like every other kid i knew, there was a time when i thought it must be the coolest thing in the universe to be in the cowsills! they-YOU-were originals!!!and we all know there were plenty of imitators! hey susan!!! new orleans is not but about 4 hours from shreveport. would you consider bringing your band here for a gig? i don't know if you have a set fee, but i know quite a few venue owners and i KNOW that they would love to have you play here!!!please consider this and get back with me! also, do you and your band members have e-mail addresses where fans can write you individually? that would be very cool too!!! let me repeat the invite.....susan......PLEASE consider a gig "up north" in shreveport! and consider staying a few days! there are a number of cool places here to hang out and jam....and make lots of new fans!!!! anyway, take care and much love to all of the COWSILLS and the Susan Cowsill Band!!! PS...... you would make me EXTREMELY HAPPY if you would send me a personal e-mail. i would treasure it! i've been down lately, and an e-mail from any or all members of the COWSILLS, (the first FAMILY of rock!)would really pick me up! thanks!!!:) peace and love, brenda gleason

Howdy, guys! Just had to pop in and say how much I've loved your music since my childhood... Everytime I hear "TheRain, ThePark,& Other things" I remember the 1st time I heard it.. cruisin' in my neighbors red Ford Falcon on a sunny day in Tohickon Park.. Gosh! I can't hear that song and not smile! Glad you're still makin' music.. you still ROCK! My personal fave? Beautiful Beige.. Thanks for the happiness. Best of everything, Mick.
