Dear Cowsills Well.. I thought 1999 was the Greatest year of all eh?..
Because that was when I finally met TheONE Billy Cowsill on Feb.14th (thanks
to my hubby); met 'The Rich One'(aka Richard) a week later; then in Sept.
TheBob, The Great Paul, Drummer John, (your families including the pets) in
California; then Susan (with the C.Drifters) in St. Louis MO. in Oct. .....BUT
The year 2000.. Newport sure is/will be an unforgettable 'dream come true'
year...The Family Reunion and meeting 'AsIs'Barry. okok.. on par with Feb 14th
1999, eh? ;-) May the Year 2001 turn out to be as great a year to all Cowsills
as those two years have given/done for me... with love, happiness and peace
....may God Bless you all!

The Flower Girl song of: "The Rain the Park and Other Things" is one of my
favorite songs [lyrics at http://www.execpc.com/~suden/rainpark_things.html
thanks to http://www.srv.net/~roxtar/cowsills.html by Joseph Vance] heard on
http://www.wnnh.com this morning (local radio station here in Concord, New
Hampshire), and timely since finding a true ghost story of: "The Lass in the
Park" at pages 3+4 of 5 in the "Some Strange Things in Northeast Scotland" by
Mark Gardner found at http://www.teleport.com/~vli/supra/supra.htm and that
was just sent to us members at UFoForteanUK@egroups.com by Chris Evers this

Wow,I got a nice Christmas card from AJ,and Harrison. AJ wrote a nice
letter and told me to visit the site. I'm sure glad I did. It does my heart
good to see all the wonderful praise you guys got for the excellent
performances at "A Taste of Rhode Island" The first night was super! I will
always remember the sight of the tent slowly filling to total capacity, with
the passing of each moment. AS show time approached, there was "electricity,"
in the air. I was sitting with your wives, and children, guys. They were so
proud, as was I, of the wonderful performance you people were giving. I
thought briefly about how proud Barbara and Gram Brooks would have been to see
all of you, including Richard, on the same stage doing what you do best. I
hope The Newport Yatch Club has the good sense to hire you for next years
festivities. Oh, I almost forgot, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year from Auntie Ann, Rob,Steve,Tim and Julie. Oh, and call Auntie
Jean if any of you get a chance. She'd be thrilled to talk to
you.

A child of the late sixties, I enjoyed the music of the Monkees, the
Archies, the Cowsills, Spanky & Our Gang, 1910 Fruitgum Company, the Ohio
Express, the Royal Guardsmen, the McCoys, the Strangeloves, the Cuff Links,
the Association, Donovan, the Mamas & the Papas, the Grass Roots, the
Hollies, Boyce & Hart, Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield, Paul Revere &
the Raiders, and, of course, the Beatles. Did I miss anybody? My favorite
Cowsills song is a toss up between "the Rain, the Park and Other Things" and
"Gray, Sunny Day." In fact, "But You Know I Love You" by the First Edition
sounds like a Cowsills song. The Royal Guardsmen, the Fruitgum Company began
to turn their back on their fans in 1969. The Monkees were busy trying to get
noticed by Jimi Hendrix fans. The Ohio Express self-destructed. The Beatles
broke up. The Cowsills disappeared, but their music appeared to continue
through the Partridge Family (Tony Romeo helped out there). Still, when I
think of my younger days, I think of groups like the Cowsills and the happy
soundtrack they enriched us with. From the Peter Pan influenced "We Can Fly"
to the humorously hippie-influenced "Hair," the Cowsills ranks as one of the
most memorable groups of the time. Who can forget them?

upbeat and "happy". I wish all of you the best.

When I was ohhh..about 13 I wanted to go see the Cowsills at Singers in
Detroit soo bad. My girlfriend and I sat in the back seat of my big brother's
car and held on to anything we could (front seat, door handle, seat, etc) and
wouldn't get out of the car until he took us to see the Cowsills. He was
getting ready to go somewhere with his good friend, Jerry, and was very
irritated with us for behaving this way of a "little girls band" as he called
it. We cried, screamed and held on for dear life. Finally his friend Jerry
said that they were going to be late so let's just take the brats so we can
get going. So we went. Both my girlfriend, Karen, and I were "in love" with
Barry and John. What a great memory. I've always wondered what happened to
them. Still hear their great songs on the radio and wonder.

I would just like to express my gratitude to Billy for producing our new
release(Optimal Impact-Sun Sittin' Thunder Records TR001). He was a joy to
work with and we really apreciate the fact that he offered and did sing most
of the harmonies. After recording backup vocals on Sun Sittin' and moving on
to the backup tracks for Serenity, Billy commented that "The Beach Boys have
left the building - Crosby,Stills, and Nash have arrived". During the mastering
session Billy's words were "we're takin' a slant six and turning it into a
V-8". And finally when it was all sais and done we asked Billy what kind of
music we had just recorded and he replied "Surf Metal man". Thanks again
buddy, your the best. "Surfs up...let's rock.

I just wanted to wish the band the best and to mention that both my
brother, Arthur, and myself went to high school with Bill, Bob and Rich (then
known as Dick) in Middletown, RI the sight of the "little schoolhouse on the
hill." At the same time, I was the lead singer in a local group in the
Middletown/Newport area called the Breakaways and performed on occassion at
Bambi's and the Rotunda at First Beach with the Cowsill's. It's been well over
30 years and I'm sure Bob, Paul, Barry or John don't remember but it's a great
memory none the less. To this day I remember playing at a place in Newport
called the Mooring and our band was covering one of their songs when they
walked in the front door. We were shocked to say the least.

I just attended the Cowsills Reunion at the "Taste of Rhode Island"
Festival in Newport. I enjoyed the concert, but have one comment. The group
had a unique sound in the 60's and 70's and some of the music that I heard
today seemed so much like what you can hear anywhere. I probably am in the
minority but I enjoyed their original sound more. Also, being "over 50" I
really don't enjoy the loudness of today's music. Loud isn't necessarily
better it's just loud.

dream of meeting the Cowsills... A few years ago, i met a fellow named Fred
LeBlanc, who was drumming in a band called Dash Rip Rock. More recently, i
seem to recall having noticed the name Peter Holsapple on some CDs by Fred's
current band, Cowboy Mouth. ((A Fantastic band that everyone should check out,
BTW)) Wow! Two degrees of Susan Cowsill!!

believe if my memory is correct he was born 2 March 1956.Does anyone know if I
have this information right? He and Jay Osmond share the same birthday.Jay is
a year older than we are. John was my favourite because he played the drums.

Hello! I just wanted to say BIG UPs to the Cowsills!! I'm an African
American from the city of Philly but now reside in Hollywood, Cali. I remember
growing up in Philly and toggling between WHAT (R&B am radio) and WIBG
(Pop am radio) stations, at that time, and hearing one of my all time favorite
songs "The Flower Girl". Man, the harmonies and vocal arrangements in that
tune are monumental! Even as I type, I'm playing that song over and over
again. It just gives me that happy summertime feeling! When I was on my way
from Philly after vacationing there, I decided not to take my connecting
flight from Vegas to LA a week ago, I decided to rent a car and drive the rest
of the way. I was scanning some stations in the car and ran across a soft rock
oldies station and that's when I was re-introduced to that song again! It's
been ringing in my head ever since. By the way, I'm a music
producer/writer/vocalist myself so I always have and always will appreciate
good music. I came to this site after doing a search and learned more about
the creators of this music than I ever knew baefore. I didn't have any
previous knowledge of the group's name nor did I know that there was a direct
connection to the Partridge Family TV series until I came to this site. Thanks
for suppyling all that important info! The Cowsill's songs stand the test of
time and in my heart, will continue to do so! Peace and Blessings to all of
you! Musically yours, Vidais Lovette a.k.a. Siadiv

I just can't believe that I found a web site for THE COWSILLS. I have been
a fan since 1968. I was so madly in love with Barry, that I couldn't
concentrate on anything else. I saw the group in 1968, and 1971. I got
autographs, and to this day the pictures I took way back then still have a
special place in my photo album. Because of the Cowsills, I had many many
penpals, and I hope that maybe I just might catch one or two of them on the

look up "Cowsill"--why, I have no idea--and here you all are! Thanks to
whoever put all this together. Like everyone else, I was a big fan but never
had the chance to catch up with the family and see their appearances. When I
moved from the Midwest to California as a preteen, my goal was to meet the
Cowsills, but that never happened. (Yeah, well, I was only 12!) I still have
all my albums and 45s, though, and even a CD or two, along with lots of happy
memories of anxiously awaiting the next new music to come out. Just looking at
this site made me laugh aloud with pleasure frequently this afternoon. Thanks!

The Rain, The Park and Other Things is one of the few good memories from a
rather grim period. I just started my junior year in a new high school and
lived near twin sisters who looked every bit the part of the girl I pictured
when I heard the song. After (clearing throat) years, I still think of the two
flower sisters and a meadow every time I hear the song. Also loved Indian
Lake. Thanks for some pleasant memories and a diversion during some very dark
years. It was a little bit of light when I needed it. Bob Paine

Nobody can harmonize like you. Although we did try. One of my siblings still
has the record that you could get when you bought a gallon of milk. I wish I
knew which one, I'd try bribing them for it. My favorite song to this day is
"The fun song" from that promo record. Those songs are at the end of "The
Cowsills in Concert" album. LOVE IT!

I'm a true Cowsill fan. Unfortunatly, I lost my Cowsill scrapbook in one of
my moves. I was saving it to show my children. I'm 44 now and do not have any
children and my husband died in 1991, therefore I guess I wouldn't have anyone
to show it too. I really do miss it, for I used to look at it a lot. I even
had the book that I received from joining the Cowsill Fan Club. I think that I
do still have my Cowsill Fan Club Membership Card. Of course I still have all
of my albums. John was my favorite. We were born the same year, 1956. He on
March 2 me on January 24. When I was in the seventh grade I had a huge crush
on a ninth grade boy, because he looked just like Bill Cowsill. Thanks for
letting me write my comments. Cowsills Forever Love and Peace, Marsha C.

I really started listening to the Cowsills about a year ago after hearing
The rain The park and other things on a Solid Gold radio station. Ever since
then I havent't been able to stop listening to their music, especially that
song and Indian Lake. Whilst in Australia in January I managed to get hold of
a CD called The rain,The Park and Other things which I will not part with. My
girlfriend wanted to borrow it to copy it on to a CD and I had to part with it
for the weekend I was scared stiff something was going to happen to it because
you can not get it over here in NZ and I couldn't believe it when I found it.
I would never be able to get another one. Great to see so many people in this

to know where I can get a cd with that on it. I am forever calling up the
oldies station here in Dallas KLUV 98.7FM and requesting it. I love the
arrangement of that song, it is the best. I grew up on the Cowsills, Barry was
my favorite. This was during the 'MILK ADS'. I always tore their picture off
the back page of my 'weekly reader' I was in 7th, 8th and 9th grade then. I
had no idea they were even still around. Got the idea to look up on the

l/7/00 What can I say? I was your #l fan. I saw you in concert in l967 in
Chattanooga, TN. Susan and mom weren't there they were sick. You guys helped
me get through a lonely childhood. I used to pretend to be a Cowsill and I
dearly loved Barry. I still have the pic. from the concert. I have always
loved your music and didn't know you were still recording. I'm going to buy
your new C.D. Those are memories I'll carry with me for the rest of my life.
Some of the memories are bittersweet, I came to realize you were real people
just like me, but as a young girl, I really thought I'd one day get to meet
you. Seeing you in concert was a dream come true. I so admired Susan and
wanted to be a singer just like her. I was about her age, inbetween her and
John. I am 40 almost 4l and I still remember rushing to get the newest l6
Magazine like it was yesterday. I didn't know what had happened to you guys
and I am so glad to be hearing more and more about you again. I knew you all
didn't just fall off the face of the Earth. (ha-ha) I still think I'm your
biggest fan. I was really excited when I heard "The Rain, the Park and Other
Things in the movie Dumb and Dumber. You all take care and God bless you.
Thank you for so much pleasure in my life. I'm glad you are all doing well.
Love, Joy
