Comments:Isnt the Web wonderful? For so long, so many people thought they were the only remaining fans of various artist like the Cowsills. I have read the same comments on a variety of artist from Scott Walker (The Walker Brothers) to Gene Pitney. It is great to be able to communicate with people who still appreciate the beauty of "In Need of a Friend" or the joy of "We Can Fly". I have a demo copy of the new C.D. and it is excellent. I encourage you go to buy it. The songs and production are very 90's. The Cowsills are one of the very few groups to "comeback" and not sound like they just threw something together in a last ditch effort. Best of luck!!! Potemkin

Comments:This might be old news for the veteran Cowsills fans, but I still thought I'd post this as an FYI. Last night I received the most recent catalog from Razor & Tie Entertainment ((800) 443-3555). Their catalog features the Cowsills first album and "Cowsills in Concert" both on c.d. and cassette.

Comments:I'm 34, and until recently I knew the Cowsills only for "The Rain, the Park and Other Things" and "Hair". I recently purchased the c.d. "The Best of the Cowsills" (Rebound Records 314 52 204-2). It contains some great songs! Still, I know absolutely nothing about the history of the band. Can someone fill me in on their history? Thanks!

I can't believe that it has been 30 years, for me, as a "Cowsill" fan...
where has the time gone? Of course, for the "record", I was a
"infant", at the time...hahahaha... My first Cowsill concert was at the New
Jersey state fair, in Trenton, Nj, then on to Allentown, Pa, for the state fair. I tried
to see them at York,Pa., but our car broke down, outside, of York, and my family had to
take a bus back to Philadelphia. We saw them at Lambertville, NJ, Pittsburgh, and of
course "Steel Peir, Atlantic City, and Newport, RI.... (the Viking Hotel.. do you
guy's remember it?) I am listenting to "Global" as I write this... and I am
impressed how much all of you have "grown" as musicians and singer's, especially
you Susan... you are very talented, and a very accomplished singer... I really love
"Global"... Oh, one more thing from my memory... in Lambertville, I was with my
friend Michelle, we will be friend's 30 year's next April, all of you got in the
stationwagon from the show, after it was over, backing up, the car ran over her foot, and
broke it. That is just one of the memories, that I have. I am so glad that that there is
the web site... I feared that the "Cowsill's" were gone forever... Thankyou,
Bettyanne

Hey there fellow Cowsills fans -- like many of you, I was SOOOOO excited to have come
across this site. I actually found it at work when a girlfriend suggested I look up
someone from the past that I'd like to find out about -- well, guess who first came into
mind!!! I bought my copy of Global on cassette, but when i saw the neat pictures from the
site from the CD, I just had to get one of those too! If any of you haven't yet bought a
copy -- you MUST get one TODAY!!! Gosh, it was like stepping back years and years the
MINUTE it started. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it!! Every song touches you in a way only the
Cowsills' music can.
I too fell in love with the Cowsills when I was about 12 and have LOVED them ever
since. The ONLY scrapbook I've ever made and the ONLY clippings, etc. that I've treasured
ALL these years (and yes, they were some pretty good ones) were of my favorite family. I
finally got my chance to see them in concert in Elkhart, Indiana (I think that's where the
state fair was that year -- and I can't remember the exact year -- 69?, 70?). When I saw
the adorable red shorts jumper that Susie had on, well, I wouldn't rest till I got one of
my own -- Mom had to make it.
Anyway -- on to the present (I could go on FOREVER about the past) is there anyone in
the West SFV that goes to the Pickwick Pub when Bob, etc. are playing? I missed the two
events at the churches recently (and it about broke my heart) -- would anyone be
interested in getting up a group for future gigs there -- or anywhere around here??? My
husband will go, but he doesn't have the same appreciation we all have, if you know what I
mean. Let me know.
All my best to each and every Cowsill -- I adore you ALL and wish nothing but Health,
Wealth and most importantly, Happiness!!
P.S. -- I was driving to work this morning and realized -- I'd LOVE to get a Cowsills
bumper sticker for my car!! How about with the Global cover on it??? Any idea where I/we
can get some??? Bye for now.

I'm glad i found your site. I'm currently writting a speach for my speach class and
couldn't think of a topic. Then i heard "The Rain, The Park, and Other Things"
play on our local(and only) Oldies station and decided what i'd do. So i found this site
and another good site(www.srv.net/~roxtar/cowsills.html) and i am now going to do my
informative speach about this band since they rock now like they've always rocked. Glad to
find this web page since i can now verify a few of the items on the other web page i
wasn't exactly sure about. Love the site.

I saw the article about Susan three weeks ago in the Star Ledger.. Great to see she's a
MOM. I got in touch with one of my old buddies from the past and we talked about the Steel
Pier and if we heard from anyone anymore. I lost touch with everyone but Peggy (my pal)
from Maryland. I haven't seen her in over twenty years but I can still pick up the phone
and talk to like I saw yesterday. She even chats with my husband (poor guy, but I love
him). She laughs at my computer skills aor the lack of, I'm on a computer all day but not
this kind of program so bear with me. WHO AM I? O'Connor orginally from Newark NJ but now
out of there. I would live at the Steel Pier with the "C's" were there. Hung out
with Linda d. Nancy W. Jodie, and of course Peggy B. Too many good times, laughs and
tears. I have to end this now, my little boy (l8,freshman in college) wants the computer.

GREAT WEBSITE!!!! the cowsills were a big part of my life in the late 60's and early
70's. then david cassidy took over in the latter 70's. it's great to get some scoop on
people that touched so many people during that era. i'm saddened to hear that barry had a
difficult time with the success of the band. i hope he can think of his experience as a
positive one oppose to a negative one because his contributions made alot of people happy,
specificly me. also, the fact is this website would not exist and those that visit it were
touched by barry and the rest of the cowsills. if anybody knows how barry is doing or what
happen to him, i would appreciate any information you may have on him or any member of the
cowsill clan. thank you in advance and thanks to all who have taken the time to write (as
i am doing, lol) to voice your feelings.

I just received GLOBAL. What a wonderful gift --goosebumps included. I lost my entire
family this year and it has been tough ..t I am a possitive person. Listening to the
harmony of the Cowsills brought back fond memories of youth which I am still too young to
forget, thank you====.... . The Cowsills were a BIG part of my "tender" youth. I
was lucky to see them in Chicago in 69..my mom baked a big cake for Bob and Dicks birthday
and my dad led me behind the Chicago Auditorium to see if he could help get me get
backstage to meet them. No such luck. We were like the pied pipers.Too many fans followed
us. My mom worked so hard on that cake, knowing how much the Cowsills meant to me. Helping
me MAKE a dream. I also carried a Hairy Red "IT" which Sue told me at a leter
date that SueBarb ate. Later on my parents let me go to Peoria to see them for 3 days at
the State Fair. If you can imagine the love I had for the Cowsillls I got to meet them.
Sue and I hit the fair and had a blast. My husband loves Elvis and I tried to expalin,
imagine metting Elvis and having FUN with him. The Cowsills always will keep a special
place in my heart. I did the 16 magazine, many concerts and many, many pen-pals. I never
thought of myself as a fan, more as a friend. They touched my life and Global is
here....Last time I saw them was in Boston of 93. Time marches on but the ones that touch
our heart remain there:forever Soooooooo cool. Smiling big after all this time. They were
some great years*

this is a great website. thanks so much!!! i grew up loving the cowsills. i was deeply
saddened when i heard about barbara's death. the cowsills was a big part of my life back
then. they represented the good stuff in life and unfortunately, that stuff doesn't exist
in today's society. it's sad that during the generations, society changes as well. the
cowsills brought me YEARS of HAPPINESS. they inspired me to be the person i am today. i'm
sorry to hear about barry. i don't know what strains his life has endured but i pray for
him and hope that he is doing well. i can't imagine what stardom can do to a person.
anyone that promotes good in the world should be proud not ashame. barry, if you read
this, i would love to chat with you.

Hello! I'll thamk you for a great webpage and that you all are still well and back into
music again. I have the first self titled album and "we can fly" and IIxII album
and I love to listen to them. But what grieves me most is that there is no lyrics sheets.
So I have started to try to listen and write down the lyrics, and it's not easy to hear it
right. But now i´ve found lyrics to a few songs in the discography- page here. And to see
what I thought I heared and what they really sung is very funny. But I would be glad if
you could show the lyrics to all your songs.
Keep up and thanks again

I had most of the original songs but as time goes by, things go. Anyway, I was

there's one I can't. Could someone tell me who sang The Path Of Love? Thanks and greatly

Looking forward to hearing the new GLOBAL CD. The first concert I ever went to was a
Cowsills concert......more years ago than I sometimes care to remember!!!!! Needless to
say, it's still one of the most memorable evenings of my young life! I still have my old
Cowsills scrapbook and drag it out every now and then and look thru it. The pages (and
there are a LOT of them!) are all yellowed now, and the sticky has worn off most of the
tape, but I wouldn't take a million $$ for it! And John, if you happen by, YOU'RE STILL

I've been a big fan of the family as long as I can remember! I used to recieve the fan
club mailings regularly. I have been lucky enough to see the group together (Monkeefest,
Chicago, 90 or 91), Bob solo in Venice, CA (met some fanclub members there), Susan with
the "Drifters" in Chicago.
I am a guitarist and would like to know if anyone has Cowsills TAB out there!

Thanks for the blast from the past. One teenage highlight was when my sister Jane &
I were hanging around outside the Cowsills' trailers at the Tewsbury (?) Mass. state fair
and SUSIE walked out all by herself. She must have been 11 if I was 12. We were blown away
and followed her. She walked to a hot dog stand and bought a hot dog and sat down and ate
it. We snapped pictures of her scowling at us!! We sat at a nearby table and gawked and
took more pictures. I think we even said "hi"!! Oh my god, it was the best.
Since Jane was going to marry John, I took Barry. Did you know 16 Magazine still exists (I
read it whan I take my kids to the orthodontist). Reading through this guest book reveals
that I was not the only one taken by the Cowsills' hauntiing lyrics.

Growing up, my favorite things were watching Dark Shawdows, playing with my beloved
doll Chatty Cathy and of course listening to The Cowsills. I used to wait with
anticipation for the latest Teen Magazine to come out so that I could cut out their
pictures (especially Johns') and paste them in my official Cowsill scrapbook. Eight years
ago, I was lucky to see the Cowsills reunited in concert at a club in Boston. Then a
couple years later, again in Newport. Since then, I have once again lost track of this
wonderful group. Thank you so much for getting this site together. Now, I'll always be
updated on their latest concerts, albums and current news.

I was madly in love with Barry Cowsill when I was 13, living in the 'burbs of Detroit.
This passionate teen-lust prompted me to do some strange things, including fight my
parents to move to Santa Monica. I figured if only i lived close enough he'd fall madly in
love with me, too! We never did move here when I was a kid -- but I finally moved to soCal
when I was a grownup and never looked back at MoTown!
I was stunned to see The Cowsills listed on a banner driving down Ventura Boulevard
last night (8/22/98) and am thrilled that I took the Boulevard and not the freeway. You
gave me back my teenage years in one swift moment! I look forward to 8/29/98 at
Pickwick's!
Maybe I can be 13 again for just a little while.

Who Knew? I just attended the Teen Idol concert because my sister was a big Bobby
Sherman fan, and it was very nostalgic - it got me thinking about my idols - The Cowsills,
esp. Barry. So, I figured I'd check to see if anything came up. What a surprise to find
this site. I share the feelings of Lizzie - I'm 43, married, with 2 children. I have
remained curious over the years - not only about the Cowsills themselves, but about the
fans who had their own network back in the late 60's/early 70's. I think I had 25 pen pals
at one time! I'd spend all my money on stamps!! I became a fan at age 12 in 1967 when The
Rain, the Park..... came out. My dream came true at age 16 when my friend's parents took
me to Indiana to see the Cowsills and we got to meet them and take pictures. It was such a
happy time for me. Times and priorities have certainly changed, but I still have a warm
spot in my heart for those days and for the Cowsills, who helped me through those
difficult pre-teen and early teen years. Thanks for the memories.

We were glad to catch up with all of you, glad everyone is doing well. Sorry to here
about your parents. If you ever come to Va. any of you hope to see you. I liked one song
that I never could get it is "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" sung by John.

Hey..where do I start on this one..maybe, like, syncophants anonymous??I haunted the
newsstand for those magazines, and clipped out every photo of John and Barry I could
eyeball. Funny, Barry seemed brooding and John was kinda perpetually happy, and from the
looks of things, that's pretty much how it turned out. Dover Mines was my favorite suicide
song, and I'm pleased and eager to hear what Barry has put to (uh, it ain't vinyl, baby)
CD these days. The Cowsills were my favorite group, the ones that started me on my journey
to 700+ records and headphones to enter my alternative world. I've kept up with the
collection through Goldmine, amassing weird stuff like Susan doing Muhammed's Radio in the
70's, all the EP's with the milk song, impossible years, and love, American style. Like
most of the stuff you collect in your youth, I played all my Cowsills over and over and
know every little nuance by heart, still. I just got this web-thingy, and tried the
Cowsills, knowing darned well there would be nothing. Jeez. I am ooking forward to
reliving my past (what price, therapy?) with the advent of Global. My friend sees Susie at
SXSW every year and I always send him with an album to get autographed, which he never
does. Guess that little chubby girl with the glasses is still there in the shadows... Feel
free to e-mail, any subject. I'm the Chatty Cathy of the 70's. xxxzandra

Excellant site....Im 38 and always loved the Cowsills music.Have most of the records
and CDS. Nice to see all the John fans here !! I still rememember those fab milk
commercials and seeing the Cowsills on the Mike Douglas show sometime in 71 or so. Mike
asked Barbara if the family enjoyed the Partridge family , which I have heard was based in
part on the Cowsills. Barbara said "Imitation is the sincerest form of
flattery".Im sad to hear of the passing of Barbara and Bud.
Nice site for a great group,Ill be back.

I first saw The Cowsills on TV back in 1968 after coming from a four-year stay in
Germany. We were staying at my grandmother's house before we got stationed in Omaha. I was
12 years old and was intrigued by their music (even at that young age). Over the years I
came to appreciate their music. Though I generally despise "family" groups, The
Cowsills were exceptional in their composition and style. Family groups like The Osmonds
(Oy veh!) or The Jackson Five (argghhh) did not have the same musical talent or appeal of
The Cowsills.

I surfed onto this page by chance. I was glad to see a report on Barry. I use to work
with Barry in the mid 70's. He had a key to my house and slept on my couch becuase
sometimes we had different work schedules. He was between apartments at the time. He also
played bass for me when I went into a recording studio to record a song one time, just for
fun. As well as guitar on another occasion. He is very fast and very good. If Barry sees

I'm a Cowsills fan from *way back* but have matured just a little bit (*grin*) since
the 1970's. . . .so I don't hold people on "pedastals" anymore! That leads me to
my next question. . . .since the Cowsills and the majority of their fans are now of the
"older, wiser and more mature" bunch, why don't the Cowsills send in a couple
more pictures of their families and things, for this website? It seems like the Cowsills
could help keep this website up by sending in some recent family pictures and things. I
don't "swoon" over the band anymore but I do have many fond memories of them and
my teenage years. It would be nice to see some recent pictures of them and their families
and maybe hear a word or two from them via this website.
I'm not a little screaming fan anymore, who dreamed of marrying John Cowsill! I'm a 41
year old married woman with 3 children who would like to hear and see what's been
happening in the Cowsills lives. . . .on an "adult" level.
Take care, Cowsill family, and will look forward to hearing more of your music.
Sincerely, Lizzie

Guys, congratulations!! Back in the late 60's,when I heard your voices on the radio or
on my record player,I always thought of you as my "best friends". Back in the
early 90's i heard and read that all was not well behind the scenes back then, and I was
very sad. But life goes on..you really DO have to forgive, even if you can't completely
forget. I met Bob in Boston in the early 90's when the Cowsills were performing there.
This was the first time I had ever seen them live, and they were great!! More success to
you guys. Please keep singing and playing together. By the way,is Robin Records a Cowsill
owned/operated label? if so...great idea!!.I can't wait for the release of the new cd.

I am in seventh heaven. It's been many years now since I have felt this informed about
the greatest band of all time. Apparently they have lost none of their magic. I'm dying to
get caught up on all the C.D.'s and now since I have the info on them I will be able
to-including the new one coming out in August. This is a group performers I liked so much
I even named my pet dog (part poodle) after Suebar. This was the year (also another
seventh heaven Cowsill time for me) that I saw them, got to meet them and basically spend
the day and evening with them (backstage, no less) at the Vigo County Fair at Terre Haute,
IN in August of 1970. If you would like to hear more on that please write me at my E-mail
address. There are pictures that go along with the story, but unfortunately, I don't have
a scanner. I would give my head of long, beautiful but thinning HAIR to see them live now,
especially with the two wanderers-Bill and Barry. I didn't mean this to go on so long but
when I get to talking about the C's it's hard to stop. Hope to hear from you soon!

I spent most of my teen years as a major Cowsill fan. Anyone out there from New England
who was also a Tigerbeat? Anyone remember Mountain Park, Holyoke, MA? The Fox Theatre in
Springfield, MA?? Those were the days. Newport shows? Seems so darn long ago.
I was saddened to hear about the deaths of Bud and Barbara. I still have so many
wonderful memories of the times we shared with all of the Cowsills. I still have all of my
Cowsill albums. I may still even have old milk advertisements. If I look in my mom's
attic, I may find the many scrapbooks. Remember those red and white stripped jackets with
the hats? Good lord! Silver Threads and Golden needles? The early days.. The rain the
park..etc.. Tangerines anyone?
I just adored Barry and John.. We were all about the same age. Susie too!!! I wonder if
they remember me? I still have all my old photo's. Anyone who wants to correspond,
including Cowsills themself.. email me.. put Cowsill in the subject or I won't open it.
I have enjoyed the walk down memory lane..

It was great fun to find this web page. During the late sixties I remember reading all

The Cowsills! I also used to see them ever time they were at the South Shore Music Circus

Thank you so much for going to the trouble to create this web-site. After going 20-some
years without hearing about the Cowsill and how they were doing, it was so refreshing to
find this web-site. Of course I cried when I discovered that Barbara and Bud had died and
that some of the Cowsills had had to suffer through the pains of divorce. I'm not sure I
understand what happened that split the family up all of those years ago. I just pray that
those hatchets are now buried, they've gotten a refill on their "satchels" and
can now proceed II x II from here on out.

I first heard the Cowsills in the 60's.. I was in my 20's (I'm 55 - It'll save you from
figuring it out). I was stationed in England, and being out of the States, we sometimes
had to go by the picture on the album, (vinyl of course) and some liner notes. I took a
chance and really loved the music. I bought a copy of all of the Cowsill albums the PX
ever got in.
I don't have a phonograph that works, so sadly I haven't listened to the records
lately.
I found the site quite by accident. I was visiting a site that had lyrics (actually
fractured lyrics) like you thought the words were onething, and they turned out to be
something different.
So on that site someone thought the words in "Indian Lake" were " At
Indian Lake you'll be able to MATE the way the Indians do".
So I mentioned this to my wife, and she always thought the word was Mate instead of
make. Which prompted me to see if the lyrics to other Cowsill songs were on the net, and
viola! here I am.
I can't remember the song title, and I'm too lazy to go look it up on the album. (I
think it's from Captain Sad and the Ship of Fools album) The real words are "Raise
the bloody drawbridge cried Sir Harry, Tarry not a moment more" (at least that's what
I think they are). My wife thought the words were "Take out the bloody Garbage cried
Sir Harry...."
Anyway, it's nice to know the family is still at it. I had heard that the father ran
off with the equipment or something, and left the Cowsills high and dry. And I didn't know
any of them still performed.
They had a great sound, we turned up the volume and sang along!!
Too bad most of you never heard them!
Good Luck...
Dale...
