Hi Barry, This isn't just a belated "Happy Birthday" wish, but a "I'm glad I got to know you" greeting as well. Not only are you a multi talented musician (someone that I've admired all my life), but a crazy, fun-lovin', kind, sincere and wonderful human being. I'm so happy that Colleen brought (dragged) you to CT which gave me and my family the opportunity to meet you. I look forward getting together with you again, meeting Lizette, and having you perform at Lakeridge. We'll have to keep the spoons away from Colleen that night (ha, ha)! Happy Belated Birthday, Barry!!! To this day, when anyone asks me who the one teenage star crush I had was...my answer remains the same. "Barry Cowsill!" I will join the 50-Club next year. Can't believe after all these years I haven't seen you perform since I was 13. And I still have the souvenir book you signed!!!!! Hello again, Barry!! Joanne and I had a great time singing with you at The Big Kahuna in Bridgton, ME this spring. At the end of the evening, we were lucky enough to have you (and your girlfriend) all to ourselves. Do you remember how the 4 of us sang all those great Cowsill songs and then sat and talked until 12-it was a night to remember for both Joanne and I. We're planning to go to The Big K again when we read that you'll be there. Also, we plan to go to B. Goode's to catch you playing. Are you still there? Newport is only a half hour from Barrington, as you know. Well, Happy Belated Birthday and hope it was great!! Thanks again for the private concert, and Joanne and I will see you in the near future. By-the-way, we saw the Entertainment Tonight show on TV last weekend about the benefit concert you did for your brother, Bill. Good luck to him!! Jane

This sounds like an old scratchy record: I did call the number you gave me, the voice was a woman, I left a message and since you didn;lt call back I didnlt feel comfoirtable bugging this person. After much hassle i got my hands on teh first CD and await news of the next one. Where are you? I see you were in LA but I wonder if you ever travel north. Hey Barry!! I am SO happy to find your website, and find out what you're up to now. I have such great memories of you and your family. I had the biggest crush on you in the 6th grade. My Dad drove my sister and I over to see your concert in Pensacola, Florida, I'm thinking it was probably '70 or '71. It was so cool to finally get to see you, and afterwards you came out onto the stage, and signed autographs. I had you sign my hand. I was the "big thing" at school the next day, showing off my autographed hand, (THAT BARRY COWSILL ACTUALLY TOUCHED!!) The bad news is that I went to a VERY strict parochial school, and when my teacher saw the writing on my hand, she ordered me into the restroom TO WASH IT OFF! I tried so hard to wash it just enough so that she wouldnt notice, and still be able to see some of it. OH, it was so sad!! Anyway it gave me a memory of you that I will never forget. I would love to see one of your shows now. I live very close to Biloxi Beach in Mississippi, and they have a casino row, that has some great acts to play. Look into coming to one. Dear Barry, It's been over 30 years since I've seen you. Your family was living on La Mesa, (1837 to be exact). I have seen Bob, John, Paul and Susan over the past years, but not you. I remember when my sisters, a friend of ours and I went horsebackriding with you and John. Listening to you guys practice, going on your trampoline...those were the days!! Where has the time gone? I'm going to "A Family Thing" on the 13th of Sept., and am looking forward to saying hi. After all these years of you guys thinking that my sisters and me threw your musical equipment and patio furniture in your pool, I have AT LONG LAST found out who actually did it!!!!! They were some guys who also lived on La Mesa. In fact, I recently received a letter from a girl who lived on La Mesa to give to your family regarding that incident. I still live in Santa Monica, on San Vicente and have been a nurse now for 9 years. Soon, (in Feb.), I'll be turning 50 as well. S**t! But hey, we're not getting older, just getting better! I lived and breathed The Cowsills when I was a young teen. I had all their albums and spent every penny of my allowance on magazines with their pictures. Barry owned my heart. Not even Jay Osmond could steal me away from him...though Jay tried. Thanks Barry and the rest for so many years of wonderful music.

Barry - My wife and I really enjoyed hearing you on the Plymouth waterfront last night. Good times! Happy Birthday from near the Cape.

Back in the early 70's my mother took my sister and me to one of your concerts at an outdoor arena in Lambertville, NJ. I think I was about 11 and my sister was 12; it was our first concert experience. My mother was not a fan of our music, but my sister and I wanted to go so much, mom was a sport and took us. I loved the concert, and after it was over, we managed to find our way back to the "stage door" with the hopes of snagging an autograph - or maybe just a glimpse of one of you. (our desires were small when we were too!) Somehow I got separated from my mother and sister...the crowd started shifting forward, and I got pushed against a wall. I was terrified. Then out of nowhere, a voice came out of the crowd asking me if I was OK. I was crying...said I'd lost my mommy and then looked up and - surprise of my lifetime - there was Barry Cowsill. I couldn't believe it. I was still terrified, but you talked to me and said you'd help me find my mother. You stayed with me until the crowd discovered you there and started to press in, but you waved them back, and started calling for my mother. Finally, a security person came to whisk you away, but (and this was when my fickle pre-teened alliance jumped from your brother john to you...) you told the guard that I was coming along with you, and that he should go on the hunt for my mother. As we walked toward the "stage door" my mother appeared, shaken and insane with worry. And I? I was broken hearted. If she'd only come a few minutes later, I'd have lived out my little kid dream of meeting ALL the Cowsills. But I got to meet Barry. That was something, and it was plenty. I'm thrilled that I stumbled upon your site NOW, in time to wish you a happy birthday. What a treat. Thanks for all the joy of your music then, and the delicious memories now. Nice to see that you are alive, well and thriving musically. Really enjoy the cd. My favorite cuts are 2 and 6........and 5, although they're all good! Barry! Over time have tried numerous ways to contact you since we saw one another in Boulder Creek back in the 90's. I have photos from that day when we played for the campers. Back in the 90's : boy that sounds historical. If you ever read this, and I hope you do by Sept anyway, I am now the Chair of the Humanities Department at Santa Rosa Junior College and teach Humanities there incuding a class on the 60's. Wish you were out here, you could come talk to my students. Finally got "As Is" but it took forever. I should have produced you in the 80's when I had the chance: you have so much talent.
